Alexandra Fernandes
Meet Alexandra, WNN’s Head of Marketing. With several years of working and volunteering at non-profits especially in the arts sector, Alexandra is passionate about reflecting on her experiences and informing people of and breaking down the barriers that exist for women in the nonprofit sector, especially for women of colour.
With extensive experience in operations management and program implementation at arts organizations across Ontario, such as radio stations, film festivals, and charitable organizations, Alexandra wants to share her experience and insights with others in the field, as well as learn from other leaders in the non profit space.
She currently works as the marketing and communications manager for a business brokerage and M&A advisory firm in Toronto, utilizing her storytelling and journalism background to communicate their goals and ideas as a company to the public. In her journalism role at non-profit radio station, CFRC 101.9fm which is the world’s longest running radio station, Alexandra has had the opportunity to speak with several CEOs and executive directors of nonprofits across the country and learn more about the amazing work they do, but also sympathize with the impact of COVID on many of these organizations, and how some still struggle. This inspired her to join the board to foster communication between nonprofits so that others can learn from one another and make genuine connections within the sector.
Besides her passion for the nonprofit sector, Alexandra loves to develop new skills away from her laptop. She practices ballet which speaks to her dedication and precision, and loves to explore new cuisines especially when traveling.
